Diarrhea is a symptom of abnormality in frequent bowel movements, with liquid stool consistency. The frequency of bowel movements is said to be abnormal if it is more than three times a day. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the rationality of self-medication for diarrhea in Sukaratu Tasikmalaya. This study is an observational study, with a research design with a cross-sectional approach. The number of research samples was 43 people from Batu Bulu Village, Linggajati Village, Sukaratu District, Tasikmalaya Regency. The sampling technique was carried out using purposive sampling. Research data were obtained from questionnaires. Analysis of research data using the Pearson Correlation test, to determine the relationship between the level of community knowledge and the rationality of self-medication for diarrhea. The results showed that out of 43 respondents, 36 respondents had a level of knowledge in the good category, 2 respondents were sufficient and 5 respondents had poor knowledge. The distribution of rationality for self-medication for diarrhea showed that 24 respondents had the right rationality and 19 respondents had the wrong rationality.
Siti Alisa Arman Panji Wahlanto Copyright (c) 2024 Ad-dawaa Journal of Pharmacy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-11-30 2024-11-30 2 2 72 78 10.52221/dwj.v2i2.733 Isolation and Identification of Chlorophyll from Pandan Leaf Extract Using Column Chromatography https://ojs.stikesmucis.ac.id/index.php/dwj/article/view/734
Pandan is a plant whose leaves are often used by some people as an additional ingredient in food, especially as a natural dye and aromatizer. Pandan has green leaves due to the presence of chlorophyll in the leaves. Chlorophyll has benefits as an anti-cancer and is useful in cancer treatment therapy. Because pheophytin is able to activate radical compounds that are harmful to cells, this therapy is called photodynamic therapy. The purpose of this study was to isolate and identify chlorophyll in pandan leaf extract by column chromatography method using a combination of chloroform, ethyl acetate and ethanol eluents, with three variations of eluent, namely: Eluent I chloroform: ethyl acetate: ethanol (80:5:15), Eluent II chloroform: ethyl acetate: ethanol (85:10:5) and Eluent III chloroform: ethyl acetate: ethanol (90:5:5). The research stage was carried out by preparing test samples from pandan leaf ethanol extract, then isolation was carried out. Testing was carried out by column chromatography method to separate chlorophyll compounds, the isolate obtained was then identified for the presence of chlorophyll by uv-vis spectrophotometry method to determine the maximum peak at a wavelength of 665 nm. Based on the results of the study, the ethanol extract of pandan leaves was green in color and had a distinctive aroma of pandan leaves as much as 90 ml. The elution results obtained a green band suspected of being chlorophyll obtained as much as 30 ml with an elution time of 3 minutes 52 seconds. The results of the identification test with uv-vis spectrophotometry obtained a maximum wavelength at a wavelength of 665 nm and an absorbance value of 0.550. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that pandan leaf juice contains chlorophyll compounds and can be isolated by column chromatography method with a mixture of chloroform, ethyl acetate and ethanol eluents.
Bening Putri Asmarani Copyright (c) 2024 Ad-dawaa Journal of Pharmacy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-11-30 2024-11-30 2 2 79 84 10.52221/dwj.v2i2.734 Identification of Off-label Drug Prescription for Inpatient Pediatric Patients at Ciamis Regional Hospital https://ojs.stikesmucis.ac.id/index.php/dwj/article/view/735
Rational and appropriately indicated drug administration to each patient is an effort to provide quality health services in hospitals and provide optimal therapy for patients. In reality, in some places there are drugs that are prescribed but do not comply with official drug information and do not comply with what is stated in the distribution permit, which are called off-label drugs. Drugs are categorized as off-label indications if the drugs used are outside the indications stated in the leaflet. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of off-label drug prescriptions for pediatric patients at General Hospitals in the Ciamis Region.

Data collection on off-label drug prescriptions was carried out retrospectively, by taking inclusion and exclusion data, which were in accordance with the criteria for rational drug use.

The sampling technique used was total sampling, namely taking data from medical records of inpatient pediatric patients from November to April. Data processing was carried out using descriptive analysis. The samples used were all prescriptions received that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria for pediatric patients. Of the 1,461 drug prescription samples obtained, no prescription of off-label indication drugs was found in pediatric patients. In other words, 100% of the samples were included in the list of drugs in the on-label indication category. From this study, it can be concluded that no prescription of off-label indication drugs was found in pediatric inpatients at Ciamis Regional Hospital.
Yusi Puspitasari Copyright (c) 2024 Ad-dawaa Journal of Pharmacy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-11-30 2024-11-30 2 2 85 91 10.52221/dwj.v2i2.735 Evaluation of the rationality of using antibiotics in orthopedic surgery patients at the Cilacap Regional General Hospital using the Gyssens method https://ojs.stikesmucis.ac.id/index.php/dwj/article/view/765
A fracture is a condition of severing or damage to the cartilage, bone structure, or epiphysis, which is divided into open and closed fractures. Open fractures require antibiotic therapy to prevent infection, given the high risk of infection. Evaluation of the rationality of antibiotic use is very important to ensure effective therapy and prevent side effects, ineffective treatment, high costs, and antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic resistance can increase infections that are difficult to treat and increase morbidity and mortality. This study aims to evaluate the rationality of antibiotic use in orthopedic surgery patients at Cilacap Regional Hospital using the Gyssens method.

The study was observational and collected retrospective data from 55 patients who underwent orthopedic surgery for open fractures in 2023. The data used for analysis included patient identity, diagnosis, laboratory data, and antibiotic use. The results obtained were category 0 (appropriate and rational use of antibiotics) 37%, category II A (inappropriate dosage) 10%, category II B (inappropriate administration interval) 1%, category III B (administration of antibiotics too short) 9%, category IV A (presence of other more effective antibiotics) 1%, category IV C (presence of cheaper antibiotics) 39%, category VI (incomplete patient data) 4%.

The conclusion shows that there are still many antibiotic prescriptions that do not meet category 0, indicating the need for improvement in the rationality of antibiotic use at Cilacap Regional Hospital.
Fadli Bayu Permana Siti Asadu Sofiah Wa Ode Salfia Fiqih Nurkholis Copyright (c) 2024 Fadli Bayu Permana, Siti Asadu Sofiah, Wa Ode Salfia, Fiqih Nurkholis https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ 2024-11-30 2024-11-30 2 2 92 100 10.52221/dwj.v2i2.765
